![]() Which leads to even more frustration when playing against a deck featuring this region, as you are ultimately unable to attempt to navigate around the potential responses an opponent who played conchologist may have. Being the main carriers of manifest, playing against Bandle City means being subject to the highest degree of variance within the game. It really does feel like half of their roster generate more cards upon play, leading to a region that plays at both a higher tempo than others while taking longer to run out of gas. Their flexibility is closely tied with their innate ability to generate value. ![]() Bandle City can stun, ping, swarm, counter, discard, disrupt, silence, combo amongst many other things, and they can do so better than other regions which were known prior for these traits. If you're familiar with the expression, you'll notice something is not quite right with that statement. Beyond multiregion cards, Bandle City as a region, is what I like to refer to as "Jack of all Trades, Master of All". By being the sole carrier of multiregion cards, they are able to justify implemeting traits from other regions into their own. A multifaceted region that brings in a new design approach towards a game built around the idea of combining 2 different regions to form a deck. Most of you reading this already know the main issues, but i'll go over them quickly. What's wrong with Bandle City? Don't worry, i'll leave the all powerful Bell Curve analysis to Swim. The BANDLE CITY BAD moment (insert angry face here). Another strong portion were "ex-PvP" players who have become disillusioned with the metagame, most of them ever since Bandle City hit as a region.Īnd here we are. A good portion were casuals who enjoyed watching the content but didn't enjoy going through the stress of ladder themselves. To my surprise, the vast majority of the 900+ responses were that they played PvE. What is your overall interest in competitive LOR? In my Roadmap reaction video, I asked the viewers a few questions: And the data is quite clear, interest is going down, not up. Honestly, I wasn't too surprised.Īgain, the reason I point all this out is not to boast about my channel or numbers, but to give perspective on the overall interest for LOR OUTSIDE of Twitch, which seems to be the only platform the community discusses. This was THE FIRST time the decline happened in the middle of the brand new champion showcase. With every new expansion I focus on showcasing every new champion first, before moving onto other brews. With this expansion, however, the increment that would last a week and a half only truly endured for 3 days. After that the numbers start going back down to "normal".Įver since the end of 2021, views have gone down overall, yet they've been able to maintain at a decent size (for myself and others), to be honest higher than what I anticipated when I made my return from my haitus. On average, this increment would last around 12 days. ![]() In the past I would "stabilize" around 80-90k views on a daily video, and this number would go up well over 120k upon expansion release, the first 2-3 videos reaching much higher numbers than that eventually. Every single expansion release, there is a pattern, a growth in views that is quite considerable. Why? My intent is not to flex here but I do run the largest, most viewed LOR related channel in YouTube. My YouTube channel is a decent source to gauge overall interest in the PvP aspect of the game. Having that said, let's start with the little data that I do have. I've seen many ships sink in the past, and i'm aware of the signs. The data that I have to support this is very minimal, but I have years of experience as a content creator for card games. Having to wait over 30 more days for a balance patch will lead to a loss of interest and a reduction in PvP playerbase from which i'm not sure LOR will fully recover. I believe the game is in a rather critical state right now and I want to advocate for a hotfix of sorts. I believe this is the worst expansion in LOR history, which has led to a metagame that is quite frankly, frustrating to invest in. I say this because in the past i've definitely given in to frustration and used my Twitter as a platform to vent about whatever is on my mind, majority of the times being my issues with the game I play on a daily basis, whatever they may have been at the time. An Argument for a Bandle City Hotfix: The Novel.įirst of all, this "ramble" does not stem from uncontrolled emotion. ![]()
